The Opportunity
The Sales Representative will be a key member of the HMH International Sales team and hold accountability for the promotion and effective sales of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Company products to private and public sector schools within the Pacific territory.
The primary objective for the role will be to drive incremental business growth above and beyond the current business established and success will be measured against sales Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). A high degree of travel is required.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Internationalis the division responsible for the management and growth of HMH international business. The division has a team of over 50 sales representatives and consultants as well as sales and marketing support and finance. The team currently dominates the target market with approximately 50% of targeted market share.

Duties & Responsibilities:
+ Visit International schools, private schools, language training centers to create and maintain a solid increase in sales of HMH products locally
+ Establish and leverage relationships with key public-sector and government customers, including national ministries of education and other public institutions
+ Maintain a close working relationships with book importers in order to leverage their resources to maximize the coverage of our educational books and digital programs
+ Conduct assigned Marketing and Sales activities in various cities throughout the assigned territory
+ Organize and provide quality product training and presentations to our clients and various institutions
+ Identify and report new business opportunities, assist and implement the related action plans in order to generate and close sales
+ Assist on building a database to include International schools, Hybrid schools, Foreign Language Schools, Learning Centers, Institutional Libraries, etc
+ Maintain adequate knowledge of each curriculum area to converse comfortably with customers, determine their needs, and to consult on products and resources that will facilitate customers in meeting their educational objectives
+ Maintain relationships with target buyers through daily communication via telephone calls, emails etc.
+ Build and maintain extensive networks in order to generate sales
+ Monitor the market, recognizes trends and competitors' activities and adjusts appropriately
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
+ Fluent in English - listening, speaking, reading and writing
+ A Bachelor or Master’s degree in relevant subjects
+ 3 years’ experience in a target drive sales environment, ideally within the publishing sector
+ Strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to assimilate information rapidly
+ Strong presentation skills in order to demonstrate products successfully
+ Proficient with technology and computer literacy
+ Must demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated in order to secure results in a sales environment
+ Proven attention to detail
+ Ability to work under pressure
+ Experience traveling extensively in a sales territory
Desirable:
+ Experience in Education Publishing or teaching within a relevant market
This role can be based in any location across the Pacific - Christmas Island, Coconut Islands, Cook Islands, Fiji, French Polynesia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, American Samoa, Western Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu
