SUMMARY

The Safety Manager implements and administers the company safety program at project site(s).

QUALIFICATIONS

College Degree preferred. Ten (10) years of safety management experience. CHST Level 5 required. Two (2) years of construction experience. Federal Government experience preferred.

CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of OSHA Standards/Codes and Environmental Safety Standards. Excellent Communication and Analytical Skills. Proficient Microsoft Word & Excel skills. For Federal government projects qualifications may vary in accordance with Army Corps of Engineer Safety and Health Standards (USACE EM 385-1-1), Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) or other standards and specification as required.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

Audit project site(s) for corporate and federal safety standard compliance. Update safety and health policies and procedures. Develop safety training programs. Track and trend project safety performance (site safety inspection results, injury rates, safety violations, etc.) and recommend corrective/preventative measures. Conduct incident investigations of injuries, environmental events and equipment accidents. Conduct or facilitate project-wide safety training. Facilitate project safety inspections and verify adequacy of project team corrective actions. Assemble and maintain site safety documentation. Coordinate and communicate site safety activities with Project Manager. Actively participate in project safety regulatory compliance audits. Ensure that worker’s compensation and subcontractor injury claims are documented and reported. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and outside weather conditions. The noise in these work environments maybe moderate to very loud.
