1. Summary Description

The Container Yard/Terminal Supervisor has direct leadership accountability for the Guam Gate, Container Yard and CFS, specifically, strategic mode of operation; safety; customer service; labor relations; budget management; CAPEX; forecasting; data integrity; performance reporting and organization management.

Terminal Services

+ Direct and manage all Container Yard, Gate and CFS operations. Support all terminal operating groups to establish optimum operating plan with emphasis on exceeding budgeted cost and service commitments.

Labor Relations

+ Build and maintain open working relationships with labor through Joint Port Labor Relations Meetings. Understands both Guam Employers and labor jurisdictional responsibilities and requirements.

+ Provide leadership and direction to team.

+ Provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement.

Process Management

+ Prepare and publish key terminal metrics including safety, cost, service and productivity.

+ Standardize Container Yard, Gate, and CFS operations processes, by using quality tools and practices, to stabilize day-to-day decision-making.

+ Utilize historical data to assist in making future planning decisions and helps create a department Cargo Handling budget.

College degree in Business, Terminal Operations or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Experiences

Minimum of 10 years of port terminal operations with at least 5 years of terminal management in larger 24 by 7 operations in organized labor environment - Technology awareness and impact on port performance - Ability to analyze and interpret proposals and contracts - Knowledge of financial principles and management; accounting - In depth knowledge of labor relations - Effective communicator and consensus builder - Tolerance of ambiguity - Extraordinary commitment to task
