### Summary

You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (PARAMEDIC) in the NAVY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of US NAVAL BASE GUAM.

A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 13.01% will be added to the stated salary. COLA is subject to change at any time.

### Responsibilities

* You will conduct a methodological and systematic patient assessment/physical exam to determine the nature, extent and seriousness of a patient's condition.

* You will administer various medications orally or intravenously via suiblingual, intramuscular, rectal, endotracheal, inhalation, and intravenous fluids.

* You will operate and interpret readings of various diagnostic medical equipment to include the EKG machine, AED machine, blood pressure device, temperature scan device, glucometer, and pulse oximeter.

* You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities that may include research and or large industrial complexes.

* You will participate in controlling and extinguishing fires by operating hoses, ladders, and hydrants.

* You will use hazard and risk assessment techniques to complete an initial hazardous materials incident analysis.

* You will drive a firefighting vehicle, such as pumpers and aerial ladder truck, to the scene of a fire.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (NREMT-P) certification.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumper and Aerial Vehicles certification.

* You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Hazardous Materials Operations (HAZMAT Operations) certification.

* Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

* This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

* The employee is required to work a 72-hour week on a 24-hour on/24-hour off basis that includes weekends, and holidays.

* This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.

* Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.

### Qualifications

GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Firefighter AND Paramedic providing advanced life support, hazardous materials responses; and transporting emergency personnel and patients safely to emergency room.

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a Firefighter AND Paramedic providing structural firefighting, advanced life support, hazardous materials responses; and transporting emergency personnel and patients safely to emergency room.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
