### Summary

**About the Position:**
This is a Military Technician position with the U.S. Army Reserve. Becoming a Military Technician allows you to experience the best of two worlds by taking advantage of the opportunity to become a Citizen Soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve Military Technician program. This enables you to receive full civil service benefits and military reserve benefits. Military Technicians are a vital link between the U.S. Army Reserve and civil service, and are one of the most important keys to combat readiness.
This position is a Term position Not To Exceed (NTE) 24 months. This position is located at the 9th Mission Support Command (MSC), Area Maintenance Support Activity (AMSA) 169, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 168, at Barrigada, Guam.

* This position requires membership in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR).
* This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
* Position subject to the Lautenberg Amendment- Gun Control Act of 1968.
* This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
* This position requires a valid state issued driver's license.
**Other Requirements:**
* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

* One year trial/probationary period may be required.
* Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination.

* This is a Career Program (CP) 17 position.
* This position is a Term position and may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years.
* This position may be converted to a permanent, career-conditional or career appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
### Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
**Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):** Ability to do the work of a Small Arms Repairer without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: initial inspection of small weapons to determine repairs needed; disassemble, repair, and replace components on small arms; final inspection to ensure repairs were completed correctly; use of hand tools, precision gauges and measuring instruments; perform weapon operational tests; provide training; and prepare reports. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

**P****hysical Effort Required:** Frequently lifts subassemblies or small weapons weighing 15 to 20 pounds. Often carries large assemblies or weapons weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires walking, bending, and long periods of standing.
**Working Conditions:** Works in shop buildings that are well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Stands on concrete floors or other hard surfaces for long periods. Exposed to oil, grease, and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Exposed to the possibility of minor cuts and bruises from tools and sharp edges of metal. Subject to noise when test firing weapons.
